What do I need?
By far the easiest & most inexpensive way to start your brewing hobby is to buy a MICRO BREWERY or beginner's kit which includes all the essentials you need to make your first batch of beer and bottle it. There are several good ones that you can choose from and they include many of the components listed below.
In addition, some of the kits contain extra equipment that make your brewing hobby incredibly easy.

FERMENTER -
This is the container in which the beer is allowed to ferment.
THERMOMETER -
to monitor the temperature of your fermenting beer
AIRLOCK -
to allow gas out of the fermenter & stop air getting in.
TAP & BOTTLING VALVE -
for getting beer into the bottles
CLEANER -
to remove residues from all your brewing containers & tools. Use the new detergent & solvent free cleaner (Brewcraft BrewClean) which is incredibly effective & leaves absolutely no residue.
STERILIZER -
to prevent contamination. "No-rinse" sterilizers like Brewcraft BrewShield are far superior to the old fashioned chemicals.
PLASTIC STIRRER -
for mixing your brewing ingredients.
BEER INGREDIENT KIT -
The ingredients for your first batch. They come in a can & are supplied with yeast. All you have to do is add a good quality brewing sugar (NOT ORDINARY HOUSEHOLD SUGAR) & water.
BREWING SUGAR
We provide a blend of malt extract, dextrose & corn syrup (Brewcraft #15 Brewblend) with all our beginners kits. It makes a very much better beer than the white sugar that is so widely used. You need 1kg to make a regular strength beer.
HYDROMETER
for testing your beer to see if fermentation is finished & for measuring alcohol.
BOTTLE BRUSH
a great help for cleaning bottles.
CARBONATION DROPS
added to each bottle before sealing to make the beer gassy.
CAPPING TOOL & CROWN SEALS
to seal each bottle.

These are the essentials that you will need to get going. As long as you have some bottles, sugar & water at home, you're on your way to making your first batch of about 28 bottles of fine beer without spending an extra cent.
